Course Requirements |
| |
Once applicants have received official notice that they have been accepted as a student and their evaluation is complete, they may begin ordering courses. Courses will be ordered according to each one's personalized degree plan. Campus.
Each course consists of lectured lessons on cassette tapes, a course outline with questions, and an exam. The student will listen to the taped class lecture and answer the questions and complete any paperwork included in the course. A serious student will find that many rewarding hours of studying and listening to the tapes will be required in order to answer all the questions correctly.
After the student has completed each audiocassette or video lecture series, he/she is required to write and submit a typed outline of each tape following the example given in the packet. Then a summary of the lecture series will be written from the outline. The paper is to be typed and is designed for the student to state the highlights of the lecture's key points. The lecture series summary and the outline are to be completed for all degree levels of studies, i.e. Associate and Bachelor Degree.
Once all the requirements for an individual course have been completed, they are then to be sent to KIU. A copy of the course grade will be returned to the student after the grade has been posted to the student's permanent records and transcript. NOTE: A student should not begin studies in a new course unless all the requirements for the previous course have been completed and submitted.
The Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree program requires a book report on a book related to the subject matter of the course being studied, written as per the required format. Book reports, completed exams, outlines and course summary are to be submitted together. The outline and summary, the exam, and the book report may result in the grade for the course.
Repeating A Course
A student may request and obtain permission to retake an exam if the grade was below a "C". If a student receives a failing grade for the course he must retake it to receive credit for graduation. Only the higher grade will be recorded on the student's record.
